WHAT IS BHRT PELLET THERAPY?

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) provides women and men with a natural form of hormones when their body is not producing enough on its own. The most significant advantage of bio-identical hormones is that they are identical in structure to the natural hormones produced by the body, which means you are not placing anything synthetic into your body. BHRT comes in creams, gels, pills, injections, and pellets.
Pro-Pell, created by Pharmacy Solutions, offers pellets with a customized dose of estradiol or testosterone, which are compressed into small pellets inserted under the skin with a small incision. The procedure is done in the provider’s office and is quick, safe, and relatively painless. The pellets slowly release the hormones for 3 to 6 months. They do not have to be removed, as they dissolve safely in the body.

WHY PELLETS?

  • Pellets are the most natural way to deliver hormones for men & women
  • Pellets deliver constant release of dosage for consistent hormone levels
  • Pellets allow for efficient & effective procedure (10–15 minutes)
  • Appointments are only needed every 3-4 months (3–4x per year)

FACTS ABOUT HORMONE PELLETS

  • Hormone pellets are bio-identical to the hormones in the human body, and are a very effective way to deliver hormones in both men and women.
  • Hormone pellet therapy has been used with great success since 1938 and has been found to be superior to most methods of hormone delivery.
  • Pellets were frequently used in the United States from around 1940 through the late 1970’S.
  • Pellet therapy is not experimental.
  • Implants consistently release small physiologic doses of hormones, avoiding the fluctuations of hormones seen with some other methods of delivery.
  • There is more data to support the use of pellets in hormone replacement therapy than any other method of delivery.
  • Hormones delivered by pellets bypass the liver, do not affect clotting factors nor increase the risk of thrombosis.
  • Testosterone pellets do not adversely affect blood pressure, lipids, glucose or liver functioning.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Not all pellets are created equally. Out of 7,000 compounding pharmacies in the United States, less than 170 are PCAB certified. Less than 2% of PCAB pharmacies are PCAB certified in both sterile and non-sterile compounding. Pharmacy Solutions is one of them.

As demand for compounded medications has increased, the pharmaceutical profession recognized a need for a system of standards by which each compounding pharmacy can test its quality processes. Compounding pharmacists also wanted a mechanism to allow them to know that they are producing a high quality compound, and, in doing so, providing the best quality to their patients.

As a PCAB pharmacy licensed in 47 (pending in all 50), our staff receives control protocol, regulatory updates, and other current industry updates.

QUALITY TESTING

In addition to meeting the high standards set by PCAB, we have our products tested regularly. Our pellets are created in our modern sterile compounding room that meets all of the PCAB requirements, all of the State Board of Pharmacy requirements, and all of the natural USP requirements. Upon completion, a sample of every batch of pellets is sent to an independent, third-party FDA-registered laboratory for testing where they are tested for potency and sterility.

Additionally, Pharmacy Solutions is staffed by highly trained, dedicated technicians. Each technician must pass a national exam and then become registered in Texas. We also provide monthly on-going training in sterile and non-sterile compounding, in addition to the training required by PCAB.
